Our History

Ellen’s Bridal opened her doors in January of 2012, under the ownership of Lisa Ellen Downs. Ellen’s Bridal is named after our owner and her daughter, Ciara Ellen Short, who were both named after Lisa’s great aunt, Martha Ellen Hawkins Pugh.

Ellen’s Bridal began as a consignment boutique carrying prom dresses, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, jewelry and offering tuxedo and suit rental. Ellen’s Bridal’s first home was located at 36 West Canal Street in Wabash, Indiana. In 2018, Ellen’s moved to her current location at 45 West Market Street in Wabash, Indiana. Although the transition away from consignment inventory began late in our residency on Canal Street, following our move to Market Street, Ellen’s Bridal no longer offered consignment inventory and closed the Prom Department.

As a small business, Ellen’s Bridal prides itself on being able to create a unique “Ellen’s Experience” for our brides, giving them the attention they deserve while selecting the most self-expressive garment they will ever wear, their wedding gown.
